We are located a two or three minute walk from Hampstead Heath overground Station, gateway to picturesque Hampstead Heath, and opposite Keats House, so why not combine a visit to a Sunday service at St John’s with a visit to the local area?
Connections by public transport to other parts of northwest London are very good:
By tube/overground:
- 10 min walk from Hampstead or Belsize Park tube stations (Northern line, Edgware branch)
- 3 min walk from Hampstead Heath Overground station
By bus:
5 min walk to bus stops serving these bus routes:
- C11: to Archway
- 46: to Swiss Cottage, St John’s Wood
- 268: to Golders Green
- 24, 168: to Belsize Park, Chalk Farm, Camden
By car:
Parking is available free on Sundays (and in the evenings) on Downshire Hill and surrounding streets but please note that, on a fine Sunday afternoon, it can be very hard to find a space for all the people visiting the Heath! At other times, parking in the area is severely restricted by the local council.
Bike parking:
There are bike stands on the Downshire Hill side of the church building that you are welcome to use at your own risk.
Avoid confusion:
People visiting St John’s Downshire Hill regularly confuse us with the Parish Church of St John-at-Hampstead, otherwise known as Hampstead Parish Church, which is on Church Row, closer to the tube station. Make sure you know which St John’s you are looking for!
