A bible-believing Anglican church in Hampstead, NW3

This week’s notices (8th March 2019)

Notices for this week
(8th March 2019)

Welcome Tea (4:00 to 5:00pm, Sunday 10th March)
If you have recently joined St John’s and would like a chance to get to know us better, do join us for afternoon tea and an opportunity to chat with other members of the church family.  If you are a long-time member of St John’s, do feel free to come along and say ‘Hi’!

Women’s Prayer Meeting (9:30am to 11:00am, Monday 11th March)
All women are invited to come and pray in the undercroft on Monday from 9:30am, even if you are not regularly able to join the midweek women’s group.

Training Morning (9:30am to 12:30pm, Saturday 16th March)
On Saturday 16th March we have a morning on ‘Jewish objections and Christian obstacles in sharing our faith with Jewish friends’ (open to all).  This will be led by Jews for Jesus missionaries, including one of our mission partners from Geneva, Stephen Pacht.  The morning will end with an optional bring-your-own lunch.

Meal out next Sunday evening (7:30pm, Sunday 17th March)
Instead of eating before the evening service, there will be an opportunity to head out to a local restaurant (Franco Manca) after next week’s service.  The food is cheap and service is usually quick!  Coffee and cake will be available from 6:00pm and the service will start promptly at 6:15pm.

Women’s walk (2:00pm to 5:00pm, Saturday 23rd March)
A chance for chat and fellowship with other women from church.  Meet at St John’s at 2:00pm to walk a loop on the heath taking in Kenwood House and the coffee shop for refreshments!  Email Sue Watts if you are planning to come.  All women welcome.

Easter Holiday Club – lunch for leaders and volunteers (12:30pm, Sunday 24th March)
We are having a lunch after the morning service for all those interested in helping in any way this year – even if you’re not sure, please do come along and find out more.  (Children welcome!).  Come along and find out what we’re up to!

Save the Date – Passover Seder (6:00pm, Sunday 14th April)
On Palm Sunday, 14th April, instead of the usual evening service, St John’s will be hosting a Passover Seder showing the link between Jewish tradition and Christ’s Last Passover meal, which will be led by Stephen and Deborah Pacht.  All are welcome to come along – please be thinking and praying about friends you might want to invite.  Please let Kerry know if you can help.

Easter Holiday Club 2019 (9:30am to 12:30pm, Monday 15th to Thursday 18th April)

Our Easter Holiday Club is for all primary school children from Reception to Year 6 and will run in the mornings.  If you’d like more information about what happens, please speak to Kerry Jones, or Gareth & Siobhán Burns.  In previous years we have had helpers from all ages and we will need lots of help this year too – you don’t have to commit to the full week, if you can do one or two days that would also be great!

Please let David Rue know if you are able to help in any way.

Would you like to be baptised and/or confirmed?
If so, please contact Tom Watts or David Rue if you would like to be baptised, reaffirm your baptismal vows if you were baptised as a baby, or be confirmed.

Mission Partner Update (JP & Sue Aranzulla, Bologna, Italy)
Their latest prayer letter can be found here and hard copies are available on the desk at the back of church.

Book Recommendations!
The St John’s online bookstall at 10ofthose.com has been updated.  If you have started the New Testament reading scheme, you may find it helpful to have alongside you a copy of “The Message of the New Testament” by Mark Dever, which has a sermon-length summary of each book.  You’ll find this and a number of other recommended books at https://www.10ofthose.com/uk/partners/sjdh or via the 10ofthose icon on our website.

Sign up for the St John’s podcast here or search for us on Android via a podcast app like Podcast Addict or on Windows PCs via Miro.
You can download any of our previous talks and catch up on any that you’ve missed if you’ve been away or unable to come to church for any reason.  Or just listen direct from our website.

Chalk Farm Foodbank
We have a box at the back of church for anyone who wants to contribute.  Urgent needs this week are: tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat e.g. Fray Bentos pies, chicken in sauce, corned beef, ham, long life (UHT) milk, coffee, and biscuits.  Please ensure that everything is in date otherwise we can’t donate it.
