A bible-believing Anglican church in Hampstead, NW3

This week’s notices (4th May 2018)

Notices for this week
(4th May 2018)

Update from Mission Partners – JP & Sue Aranzulla in Bologna, Italy
JP and Sue write, “In recent months we’ve held three joyful baptisms, amongst a mushrooming presence of students (Italian and Erasmus programme). Every Sunday we hold ‘Palestra della fede’(Gym of faith), a student study expounding Romans, aimed at helping students in bible handling.  A number are also learning to give talks regularly at our Wednesday clubs.  Some are beginning to share more in church prayer, music and children’s work; all reasons to give God praise!  This said, our prayer is that new regulars learn to live the ‘mainstream disciplines’ of church life: weekly church prayer times, helping in a regular ministry and financially supporting the work.” Do read the rest of their letter for further news and points for prayer.

More information can be found in their latest newsletter here.  Hard copies are also available at the back of church.

Meal out this Sunday evening (Sunday, 6th May)
Instead of eating before the service, there will be an opportunity to head out to a local restaurant (Franco Manca) after the evening service.  The food is cheap and service is quick!  Coffee and cake will be available from 6:00pm and the service will start promptly at 6:15pm.

GC3 Conference at St James, Muswell Hill, N10 3DB (17th-19th May, evenings 7:45pm to 9:30pm plus Saturday, 19th May, 9:00am to 12:30pm)
GC3 is a new grassroots initiative to encourage and inspire individual Christians and churches to work together in reaching our part of London for Christ.  The first events are on May 17-19 2018.  Each evening we’ll praise, pray, hear what God is doing, and look for inspiration from the book of Acts, and especially the church in Antioch.  On Saturday morning, the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity will lead teaching and seminars on the value of work.

There’s a great line up of speakers, and a bookstall from 10ofthose.com.  It’s designed to work around the demands of a busy working day, and to give us all new spiritual vision and energy.

London Men’s Convention 2018 (3:00pm, Saturday, 2nd June at Central Hall Westminster)

This year’s Convention will be looking at how to live for God and his gospel and finding out what it means to truly be ‘Men Who Make a Difference’.  Please email the Office if you want to go along as part of a group from St John’s – we’re planning on going to the afternoon session followed by a meal out.  Tickets will go fast so please let us know asap!  Please speak to John Fernihough if you want to know more about the Convention.

Save the Date – South End Green Festival (Sunday, 24th June)
Once again we plan to have a stall at the South End Green Festival on 24th June.  This was a great success last year and is a brilliant way to connect with our local community.  If you are able to help by making plain biscuits for decorating, or if you can help on the day please email Lydia.  We will need lots of help so please do consider whether this would be something you could do!

We will also have a guest event and barbeque that afternoon at 5:00pm instead of the usual 6:00pm evening service.

Save the Date – Evangelistic choral concert (Saturday 7th July, 7:00pm)
We are delighted to welcome the All Soul’s choir back again this year for an evening of great music plus a brief gospel message from Tom Watts.  Please come along to show your support and meet others and do think and pray about who you could invite.  An event not to be missed!  Flyers available soon.

Save the Date – Weekend Away 2018 (5-7th October 2018)
Please put these dates in your diaries now to avoid clashes – we would love to see everyone there!  This year we are returning to Denham Grove and Andrew Latimer from Grace Church Greenwich will be speaking to us from Ecclesiastes.  More information, including application forms, will be available shortly.

So you can listen to all our previous talks and catch up on any that you’ve missed if you’ve been away or unable to come to church for any reason.

Chalk Farm Foodbank
We have a box at the back of church for anyone who wants to contribute.  Urgent needs this week are: tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat e.g. Fray Bentos pies, chicken in sauce, corned beef, ham, long life (UHT) milk, deodorant, toothpaste, coffee, and rice.  Please ensure that everything is in date otherwise we can’t donate it.
