A bible-believing Anglican church in Hampstead, NW3

This week’s notices (31st August 2018)

Notices for this week
(31st August 2018)

Prayer Meeting (7:30pm, Wednesday 5th September)
We will gather to pray this Wednesday evening, with dinner served from 7:30pm and prayer from 8:00pm – please do join us to pray about the term ahead and all our activities that are starting up again after the Summer break.  If you consider yourself a member of the church, please do make this a priority.

Weekend Away 2018 (5-7th October 2018)
The online booking form is available here so please do sign up as soon as possible as we will need to confirm numbers in September.  Leaflets are also available at the back of church – please put any completed forms in the ‘Donations’ box or hand to a member of the staff team.

This year we are returning to Denham Grove and Andrew Latimer from Grace Church Greenwich will be speaking to us from Ecclesiastes.

New rotas out now!
Many thanks to everyone who helps serve week by week – we really couldn’t do it without you!  The new rota for the Autumn Term is out now (hard copy available at the back of church by the lift).  Please do check every column and put the dates in your diary – as usual, if you can’t make a specific date, please do try and arrange a swap in the first instance and let the Office know!

Sappideen Family’s last Sunday at St John’s (2nd September 2018)

It’s Shihan, Eunice, and Isaac’s last Sunday with us this week before they head back to Sydney.  Do say goodbye and pray for them as they prepare for a long flight with a small baby.  Also, for jobs, accommodation, and a new church!

Last Summer BBQ this Sunday evening (6:00pm, Sunday 2nd September)
Do join us this Sunday for the last of our Summer BBQs!

London Women’s Convention 2018 (9:30am to 2:30pm, Saturday 13th October)
To a damaged and decaying world Christ offers the resurrection hope of new birth and an inheritance that will never fade, spoil or die.  Clare Heath-Whyte will be speaking on the first chapter of 1 Peter and helping us discover more about this glorious hope and how we can and should live in the light of it.

We are hoping to take a group of women from St John’s to this year’s Convention.  We have booked tickets for the ‘Daylight’ session at a cost of £25 per ticket.  Please email or speak to Kerry if you are interested in coming along.

Help needed on day-to-day finance issues (wef September 2018)
We are very grateful to Roger Staton for all his work with finances in the office for the last seven years or so.  As he stands down in September, we are looking for someone who can help with financial bookkeeping: logging transactions, reconciling them with bank statements, and paying invoices.

This could be done by more than one person, so any help that can be offered in this area would be appreciated.  It would be an advantage to be able to come into the office for a few hours or up to a day or two per week, but this work could also be done at home.  Full training will be provided but being comfortable working with numbers would be helpful!  Please email the Office for more information.

Help needed with English Language Classes (10:00-11:30am, Tuesdays from 18th September)
We’re looking for more people to join our team to help welcome, serve tea and coffee etc on Tuesday mornings in term time.  Please speak to Gussie Staton or email [email protected] for more information.

Sign up for the St John’s podcast here
So you can listen to all our previous talks and catch up on any that you’ve missed if you’ve been away or unable to come to church for any reason.

Chalk Farm Foodbank
We have a box at the back of church for anyone who wants to contribute.  Urgent needs this week are: tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat e.g. Fray Bentos pies, chicken in sauce, corned beef, ham, long life (UHT) milk, deodorant, toothpaste, coffee, and rice.  Please ensure that everything is in date otherwise we can’t donate it.
