A bible-believing Anglican church in Hampstead, NW3

This week’s notices (27th April 2018)

Notices for this week
(27th April 2018)

New Staff Team Member!
We are delighted to announce that David Rue has been appointed as Associate Minister for Families at St John’s, which replaces our previous Youth and Children’s Worker role that was held by Ross Mungavin until he left for ordination training in September.  David will oversee our week by week and year round ministry with children and young people both inside and outside the church.  As part of that, he will also seek to minister to families as a whole.  David is known to some as a former staff member at St John’s and we are delighted that he is returning along with his wife Hannah and two children Daisy and Evie.  An exact start date is yet to be fixed but we hope they will be able to start at St John’s around June, and look forward to welcoming them.

Message from David: “David, Hannah, Daisy and Evie are very excited about coming to St John’s, meeting everyone, and serving together.  We have been at Park Langley Church near Beckenham for the last 6.5 years so please pray for us as we finish off, pack up, and say farewell.”

Church Training Day (tomorrow – 9:30am to 12:30pm, Saturday, 28th April)

All are welcome to come along tomorrow but this will be an event that is especially relevant to anyone in a position of leadership or authority within the church, including small group leaders, youth & children’s work leaders and helpers, and others.

Prayer Meeting (7:30pm, Wednesday 2nd May)

We will gather to pray this Wednesday evening, with a meal being served from 7:30pm and prayer from 8:00pm.  If you consider yourself a member of the church, please aim to make this a priority.

GC3 Conference at St James, Muswell Hill, N10 3DB (17th-19th May, 7:45pm to 9:30pm)
GC3 is a new grassroots initiative to encourage and inspire individual Christians and churches to work together in reaching our part of London for Christ.  The first events are on May 17-19 2018.

Each evening we’ll praise, pray, hear what God is doing, and look for inspiration from the book of Acts, and especially the church in Antioch.  There’s a great line up of speakers, and a bookstall from 10ofthose.com.  It’s designed to work around the demands of a busy working day, and to give us all new spiritual vision and energy.

London Men’s Convention 2018 (3:00pm, Saturday, 2nd June at Central Hall Westminster)

This year’s Convention will be looking at how to live for God and his gospel and finding out what it means to truly be ‘Men Who Make a Difference’.  Please email the Office if you want to go along as part of a group from St John’s – we’re planning on going to the afternoon session followed by a meal out.  Tickets will go fast so please let us know asap if you want to go!  Please speak to John Fernihough if you want to know more about the Convention.

Save the Date – South End Green Festival (Sunday, 24th June)
Once again we plan to have a stall at the South End Green Festival on 24th June.  This was a great success last year and is a brilliant way to connect with our local community.  We will need lots of help so please do consider whether this would be something you could do!  We will also have a guest event and barbeque that afternoon at 5:00pm instead of the usual 6:00pm evening service.

Save the Date – Evangelistic choral concert (Saturday 7th July, 7:00pm)
We are delighted to welcome the All Soul’s choir back again this year for an evening of great music plus a brief gospel message from Tom Watts.  Please come along to show your support and meet others and do think and pray about who you could invite.  An event not to be missed!  Flyers will be available soon.

Save the Date – Weekend Away 2018 (5-7th October 2018)
Please put these dates in your diaries now to avoid clashes – we would love to see everyone there!  This year we are returning to Denham Grove and Andrew Latimer will be speaking to us from Ecclesiastes.  More information, including application forms, will be available after Easter.

So you can listen to all our previous talks and catch up on any that you’ve missed if you’ve been away or unable to come to church for any reason.

Chalk Farm Foodbank
We have a box at the back of church for anyone who wants to contribute.  Urgent needs this week are: tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat e.g. Fray Bentos pies, chicken in sauce, corned beef, ham, and long life (UHT) milk.  Please ensure that everything is in date otherwise we can’t donate it.
