Notices for this week
(1st February 2019)

Prayer Meeting (7:30pm, Wednesday 6th February)
We will gather to pray this Wednesday evening, with dinner served from 7:30pm and prayer from 8:00pm – please join us to pray for the various events and activities that are coming up over the next few weeks.  We will also be joined by the Shimizus, who are one of our Mission Partners, who will update us on what they’ve been doing.  If you consider yourself a member of the church, please do make this a priority.

Lunar New Year Dinner (5:00pm to 8:00pm, Saturday 9th February)
A bring & share dinner plus a short evangelistic talk – a fun evening for everyone, especially for non-christian friends who celebrate the Lunar New Year.  Flyers/invites available at the back of church.

COME for a fun, food-filled, family-friendly celebration
INVITE your friends, colleagues and neighbours
HELP there is lots to do before, during and after – please email Lydia if you can help at all.

Easter Holiday Bible Club 2019 (9:30am to 12:30pm, Monday 15th to Thursday 18th April)

Our Easter Holiday Club is for all primary school children from Reception to Year 6 and will run in the mornings.  If you’d like more information about what happens, please speak to Kerry Jones, or Gareth & Siobhán Burns.  In previous years we have had helpers from all ages and we will need lots of help this year too – you don’t have to commit to the full week, if you can do one or two days that would also be great!

Please let David Rue know if you are able to help in any way.

Book Recommendations!
The St John’s online bookstall at 10ofthose.com has been updated.  If you have started the New Testament reading scheme, you may find it helpful to have alongside you a copy of “The Message of the New Testament” by Mark Dever, which has a sermon-length summary of each book.  You’ll find this and a number of other recommended books at https://www.10ofthose.com/uk/partners/sjdh or via the 10ofthose icon on our website.

The Big Weekend 2019 (15th-17th March, 2019)
This is for school years 6 to 13 and aims to encourage and challenge young people as they seek to follow Jesus with engaging teaching, exhilarating activities, and loads of laughter!  As last year, the sign up is being hosted by St James, Muswell Hill and this year’s speaker is Ross Mungavin who many of you will remember from when he worked at St John’s.  Please contact David Rue if you want to know more.

Would you like to be baptised and/or confirmed?
If so, please contact Tom Watts or David Rue if you would like to be baptised, reaffirm your baptismal vows if you were baptised as a baby, or be confirmed.

Training Morning (9:30am to 12:30pm, Saturday 16th March)
On Saturday 16th March we have a morning on ‘Jewish objections and Christian obstacles in sharing our faith with Jewish friends’ (open to all).  This will be led by Jews for Jesus missionaries, including our mission partners from Geneva Stephen and Deborah Pacht.  The morning will end with an optional bring-your-own lunch.

Sign up for the St John’s podcast here or search for us on Android via a podcast app like Podcast Addict or on Windows PCs via Miro.
You can download any of our previous talks and catch up on any that you’ve missed if you’ve been away or unable to come to church for any reason.  Or just listen direct from our website.

Chalk Farm Foodbank
We have a box at the back of church for anyone who wants to contribute.  Urgent needs this week are: tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat e.g. Fray Bentos pies, chicken in sauce, corned beef, ham, long life (UHT) milk, coffee, and biscuits.  Please ensure that everything is in date otherwise we can’t donate it.
