London Women’s Convention 2018 (9:30am to 2:30pm, Saturday 13th October) To a damaged and decaying world Christ offers the resurrection hope of new birth and an inheritance that will never fade, spoil or die. Clare Heath-Whyte will be speaking on the first chapter of 1 Peter and helping us discover more about this glorious hope and how we can and should live in the light of it.
We are hoping to take a group of women from St John’s to this year’s Convention. We have booked tickets for the ‘Daylight’ session at a cost of £25 per ticket. Please email or speak to Kerry if you are interested in coming along.
Suzuki family’s last Sunday at St John’s (19th August) After 12 years, this week will be their last at St John’s for Kenichi, Mariko, Kenta, Eri, & Maria before they move back to Japan. Please do pray for them all as they prepare to move and settle into a new home, schools, and church. We give thanks for their time here with us and wish them well!
Update from our Mission Partners – JP & Sue Aranzulla (Bologna, Italy) JP & Sue’s latest newsletter can be found here (hard copies available at the back of church). Please do continue to pray for them and Forte Torre – in particular, for the recent Summer camps, collaboration with other churches on establishing The Gospel Coalition Italy, and for the chance to rest over the Summer!
Help needed on day-to-day finance issues (wef September 2018) We are very grateful to Roger Staton for all his work with finances in the office for the last seven years or so. As he stands down in September, we are looking for someone who can help with financial bookkeeping: logging transactions, reconciling them with bank statements, and paying invoices.
This could be done by more than one person, so any help that can be offered in this area would be appreciated. It would be an advantage to be able to come into the office for a few hours or up to a day or two per week, but this work could also be done at home. Full training will be provided but being comfortable working with numbers would be helpful! Please email the Office for more information.
Help needed with English Language Classes (10:00-11:30am, Tuesdays from 18th September) We’re looking for more people to join our team to help welcome, serve tea and coffee etc on Tuesday mornings in term time. Please speak to Gussie Staton or email [email protected] for more information.
Summer Central (8:00pm, Wednesdays 22nd, & 29th August) We will meet at 8:00pm for a short bible study and time of prayer. No meal beforehand but there will be plenty of tea, coffee & cake!
Summer BBQs (6:00pm on Sundays until 2nd September) We are looking at some of the Psalms over the Summer and, as in previous years, we are having BBQs outside before the evening service. Please do come along for food and fellowship – these would also be great services to invite friends to come along to!
Weekend Away 2018 (5-7th October 2018) The online booking form is available here so please do sign up as soon as possible and, ideally, before you go away for the Summer Holidays! Leaflets are also available at the back church.
Sign up for the St John’s podcast here So you can listen to all our previous talks and catch up on any that you’ve missed if you’ve been away or unable to come to church for any reason.
