Christmas at St John’s This season affords us a fantastic opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our friends and neighbours, so please do pray for our various guest services and be bold in inviting people to come:
Dec 16th All Age Carol Service (10:30am) Carols by Candlelight (7:30pm) Dec 23rd Morning Service (10:30am) and Evening Service (6:00pm) Dec 24th Christmas Eve All Age Fancy Dress Nativity (4:00pm) Dec 25th Christmas Day Celebration (10:00am) Dec 30th Morning Service only (10:30am)
We will need lots of help for these services – in particular with welcome, setting up and clearing away. Please let Kerry know if you’re able to help in any way.
Michael & Kylie Gorven’s last Sunday at St John’s (Sunday, 16th December)
This Sunday we say goodbye to Michael, Kylie, Elliot & Charlotte Gorven as they return to the States. Please say goodbye and pray for them as they prepare to move and settle into a new home, schools, and church. Many thanks to Michael for all his help on music on Sunday mornings and to Kylie serving in creche and mini-mischief over the past couple of years – we will miss you!
Read the New Testament in 2019 Why don’t you join us in reading through the New Testament in 2019 – one chapter a day, five days a week! Booklets will be available after Christmas.
The World We All Want (begins 7:30pm, Wednesday 23rd January 2019) Our evangelistic course for next term will be ‘The World We All Want’. This is a six week course that takes people through the message of the whole Bible and shows the way to the world we all want – a world of security, plenty and friendship. It will begin on Wednesday 23rd January and will run alongside Wednesday Central. Like other courses it is based on a DVD series of talks, with Bible study, group discussion and plenty of time for questions. More details here.
Save the Date – Lunar New Year Dinner (Saturday, 9th February 2019) A bring & share dinner plus short evangelistic talk – a fun evening for everyone, especially for non-christian friends who celebrate the Lunar New Year. More details to follow after Christmas!
