In 2019, why not join us in reading the New Testament in a year – one chapter per day, five days per week?
As we saw in our recent series in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, the Bible is the “sword of the Spirit” (6:17). It is the means by which God brings people into his family (1:13) and sanctifies us (5:26). And it is the tool that God gives to his ministers in order that the whole body might be equipped for ministry (4:11-12). We may value being part of a church that seeks to prioritise “Bible teaching” in its life and ministry. But will we also prioritise “Bible obeying” in our lives both as a church and as individuals?
We hope that reading the New Testament together in a year will help with this. Some of us may already have our own pattern of Bible reading or particular notes that we use, and this is not intended to replace that. Reading an extra chapter per day could be done in addition to our existing reading or perhaps at a different time of day. But many of us may also struggle to start or keep up a regular routine of personal Bible reading. By doing this together, the aim is to encourage each other to start and keep going.
Printed booklets will be available at St John’s for you to take home from the end of Dec 2018. Meanwhile if you wish, you can download the booklet for printing at home here (it is already in booklet format and needs to be printed double-sided with short-edge binding).
If you want to view the booklet onscreen or print it as single A4 pages, you can do so here.
